Accelerating Workflow for Materials Science Startup
IQ partnered with the client to build an application that streamlined their workflow, reduced manual effort, and increased overall efficiency.
Our client is a materials science startup innovating a novel way to make structural color using micro-scale reflective structures instead of pigments or dyes. Structural color development requires very high resolution images and internal knowledge of proprietary data.
As they are working with large image sizes, they needed a more streamlined and efficient process to accelerate the image creation process.

Integration
IQ replaced the need for 2–3 separate applications by developing a custom solution that enables our client to complete their entire workflow coherently and efficiently within one unified platform.
This was achieved by developing a Qt and C++ desktop application that harnessed advanced machine learning algorithms in OpenCV and leveraged on OpenGL to deliver significant workflow improvements.
Results & Impacts
- A faster, more efficient and streamlined system that positions the company to achieve its mission to product color-shifting microstructures at scale.
- Improve workflow efficiency, reducing processing time by several orders of magnitude.
