The Pittsburgh Technology Council has published an article on IQ Inc. in their Techburgher news publication. This article joins the Techvibe Radio interview and TEQ article as the third appearance of IQ Inc. on the PTC network!
IQ Inc. – The Golden, Silent Nugget – Finds a New Voice gives an overview of IQ Inc.’s history from launch to today. It discusses the challenges Barbara VanKirk faced that lead to her launch of IQ Inc., our core values, and how we have grown into the software boutique we are today.
Along the way, VanKirk has garnered her and her company’s share of awards, including one of Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women in Business by the governor in 2003, and an Enterprising Women of the Year Award winner in 2008. IQ Inc. was named the 2009 Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award (small business category) by the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership at the University of Pittsburgh. IQ was also honored as The Western Pennsylvania Woman-Owned Business of the Year in 2011.
Progress is being made at the new location for the IQ Inc. office! We’ve been hard at work making plans and getting things in place for the move all while continuing to provide the same great quality work as always. You can see photos of the progress below where walls are starting to be raised and the office is taking shape.

Murrysville-based IQ Inc. is preparing to move to Monroeville, doubling its size to 7,000-square-feet and adding 10 employees, said Barbara VanKirk, founder and CEO. The software company employs 50 people, which the company plans to expand next year. IQ was founded in 1994.

About five years ago, Barbara VanKirk, president of IQ Inc., a software engineering and project management firm in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, trained for a local fundraising triathlon to show support for an employee battling cancer. The notion of connecting charity, health and physical activity clicked with VanKirk. The following year, about half the company joined her as she trained for a charity mud run, and supporting those types of athletic events has since become an annual company tradition.
